One of the most common questions I get asked by clients is ‘How do I come up with fresh content for my blog, newsletter, social media, etc. every month?’ If you’re struggling to come up with fresh content for your marketing, here are some tips.

#1. Listen to your clients: What questions are they asking you? What are people talking about in your networking groups? Perhaps you host a regular event or webinar, what kind of questions do you get asked at the end? Listen to your clients, their questions are an extremely useful source of inspiration.

#2. Solve problems and provide solutions: Create content by providing a solution to your customers’ pain points. Establish yourself as a trusted and knowledgeable source of information, by providing solutions to their common problems or challenges.

#3. Conduct keyword research: Keywords and trends can serve as useful inspiration for your content. Use keyword research tools to identify keywords with high search volume and low competition for a more targeted approach.

#4. Make a list: Rachel Klaver from Identify has a great suggestion. She often recommends to clients who are struggling to come up with ideas, to just choose one topic that relates to your business and write a list of ten ideas. You can then use those ten ideas over and over again, and just change the hook. She says that with just one list you can create a lot of content.

#5. Seasons and trends: Create a content calendar, and stay up-to-date with current events, holidays, and trends related to your business. Create timely content that ties into these events.

#6. Analyse your competitors: What content are you competitors creating? You don’t have to copy them, but it could provide you with an angle that sparks a different idea.

#7. Social media listening: Monitor social media platforms and join online forums. What kind of questions do people ask in there? What are people talking about? Paying attention to the questions people are asking, can help you identify any content gaps.

#8. Data and analytics: Pay attention to what content performs well on your platforms, and create more of that.

#9. Audience-generated content: Engage your community by encouraging them to contribute content, such as guest posts, Q&As, case studies, and testimonials. Leverage their expertise to expand your reach.

Be sure to experiment with a variety of content types, such as how-to guides, listicles, case studies, infographics, video, podcasts, interviews, and repurpose, repurpose, repurpose. For example, take an old blog posts and turn it into a infographic or video. Revisiting older content can lead to a fresh idea.

Furthermore, don’t forget to share your personal experiences and stories with your audience, this is a quick and effective way to create a deeper connection with your audience and build trust and authority with your brand.
